Before you plan to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, either on November 16 or 17, please read  the following article which is worth reading before you decide.?
 

I have gone through the article of ISNA and with the utmost respect for their sentiment for Muslim unity, I am forced to say that the view expressed in the article (Eid al-Adha on next day of Arafat) is in total disagreement with the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, and with the Shari’ah position recognized throughout the centuries. This is an unprecedented view which has never been adopted by any of the Muslim jurists during the past 1400 years, and it has a number of intrinsic defects and anomalies, some of which are summarized here.

A tribute to Dr. Zoha!Baba-e-Pharmacy

Dr. S.M.S. Zoha, fondly referred to as the baba-e-pharmacy in Pakistan, the founding dean of the faculty of Pharmacy, University of Karachi, revered and loved by his thousands of students, and dreaded and despised by some of his ‘friends’ – for his was a truly towering personality amidst the Lilliputians to be found all around, breathed his last in Karachi on Tuesday the 2^nd of November 2010.

 

During the hey days of the University of Karachi, while Dr. Isthiaque Hussain Qureshi was at the helm, Dr. Zoha was regarded as one of the pillars of Karachi University.  Dr. Qureshi was instrumental in bringing Dr. Zoha into the University fold. And when he moved into the University, the salary that was on offer was one third of what he was getting at his then job. Decades later, in 80s, I once asked Dr. Zoha what prompted him to take up the university job at one third his earlier salary? And the answer remains ingrained in mind to this date: ‘I wanted to live for posterity and indeed I may have wanted to be driven in a chauffer driven Mercedes, yet that was not my need. My requirements could easily have been met by a rickshaw taking me to the University,’ the old fashioned that Dr. Zoha was said, rather emphatically.

ایک بار پھر پاکستان کی کرکٹ ٹیم پر میچ فکسنگ کا الزام انگلینڈ کے ایک اخبار نے شہادتوں کے ساتھھ سامنے لایا ہے اور اسکاٹ لینڈ یارڈ کی پولیس اسکی تفتیش میں لگی ہوی ھے۔ اس بار تو اسمیں کافی حقیقت نظر آرہی ہے کیونکہ جو کوی بھی کرکٹ کھیلا ہوا ہے یا کرکٹ کے کھیل کو سمھجتا ہے اور جس کسی نے بھی لارڈز کا ٹیسٹ شروع دن سے دیکھا وہ سب حیران ہیں کہ عامر اتنی اچھی باولنگ کر رہا تھا اور اسکی باولنگ کی وجھہ سے انگلینڈ کے چار کھلاڑی آوٹ ہوچکے تھے اور سات کھلاڑی ١۰۲ رنز پر آوٹ ہوچکے تھے تو اچانک وہ نیگیٹف باولنگ کیوں کرنے لگا اور جسطرح سے اسنے نو بالیں کرایں وہ تو صاف لگ رہا تھا کہ جان بوجھہ کر کی گیی ہیں جسکا اشارہ مایک ھولڈنگ نے بھی اپنی کمنٹری میں کیا اور پھر کپتان کی فیلڈ ارینجمینٹ جس سے صاف لگ رہا تھا کہ بیٹس مین آرام سے رن بنایں اسکے بارے میں بھی مایک ھولڈنگ کہتا رہا کہ سلمان بٹ کیوں ایسا کر رہا ہے۔ اب سچای تو سامنے آہی جایگی اور اگر یہ سب انلوگوں نے جانتے بوجھتے کیا ہے تو اس بار اسکا نوٹس سپریم کورٹ کو لینا چاہیے کیونکہ انلوگوں نے پاکستان اور اسکی عوام کو جسطرح ساری دنیا کے سامنے شرمندہ کروایا ہے اور پوری قوم کو رسوا کیا ہے جو کوی بھی اسمے ملوس ہو ان سب پر تا عمر نہ صرف بینڈ لگنا چاہیے بلکہ انکے سارے اکاونٹ جو انہوں نے پاکستان کرکٹ سے بناے ہیں وہ سب سیز کر دینے چاہیے اور انہیں وہاں پہونچادینا چاہیے جہاں سے انہوں نے کرکٹ شروع کی تھی۔ لیکن ایسا کرے گا کون سواے سپریم کورٹ کے کیونکہ حکومت میں تو بیٹھے ہوے سب ہی ویسا ہی کچھ پاکستان کے ساتھھ کر رہے ہیں ۔

رمضان مبارک ۔ پاکستان کی آذادی مبارک

 

اس سال ماہ رمضان کا مبارک اور بابرکت مہینہ شروع ہوچکا ہے اور آج ہر سال کی طرح ہمارے پیارے وطن پاکستان کی یوم آذادی کا بھی دن آگیا ہے ۔ ماہ رمضان کا مہینہ جو ہم مسلمان روزے رکھتے ہیں اور اس مہینے کے صہی مقصدکو دل سے سمجھنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں انلوگوں کا سوچکر جنہیں سال میں نجانے کتنے دن کھانا میسر نہیں ہوتا۔ ہر سال کی طرح ہم پاکستان کی آذادی کا دن بھی ہمیں یہ سوچنے پر مجبور کر تا ہے کہ ہمارے قاید اور ہمارے بزرگوں نے جو ہمیں یہ آذادی دلوای ہم اسکے ساتھہ کیا کر رہے ہیں ۔ اس سال کا یوم آذادی تو ہم پاکستانی کیی برسوں تک نہ بھلا سکیں گے کیونکے پچھلے صرف چند دنوں میںپہلے ایک کمرشل ایرلاین کے حادثے مین ۲۵۲ لوگوں کی اموات اور وہ غم ابھی سارے پاکستانیوں کے ذہینوں میں بلکل تاذہ ہی تھا کہ اﷲ کی طرف سے ایک ناگہانی عذاب سیلاب کی شکل میں پورے پاکستان کو اپنی لپیٹ میں لیے ہوا ہے جس میں خاندان کے خاندان اپنی جانوں سے چلے گیے نجانے کتنے پاکستانی بےگھر نجانے کتنے خاندان بے سروسامانی میں بھوکے پیاسے آس لگاے ہیں۔

As interaction with the large Indian Diaspora almost inescapable, and indeed a daily affair in the oil rich Gulf Arab, the state of Pakistan is constantly under microscope here. Having lived now for almost two decades in Saudi Arabia, I am a witness to the intensity of the debate, with focus on the creation of Pakistan and it’s after effects on the Muslims of the sub-continent and on the success of the Experiment Pakistan.

 

With Pakistan facing an almost anarchy like situation, and its economic well being and financial viability now a cause of open debate, especially when compared with its big neighbour, a contrast seems to  be emerging, giving a fillip to debate on the very sustainability of Pakistan as a state. Views that were expressed only with tongue in cheeks, until only a few years back, are now being openly expressed and with a gusto. Doomsday pundits are out in force.
